How Collaboration Works

Five steps from initial situational mapping, through selecting the right developmental strategy, to practical activation and long-term sustainable change.

“Diagnostics name what exists within a person, but cannot tell you whether they use it, what stands in their way, and who needs to resolve it. MAP4Y closes this gap – it does not ask what type of person someone is, but what is currently happening with their potential and which of the eight strategies fits. That is why I never start with the tool, but with the client's question, and why our work never concludes simply by handing over results.”

— Martina Harazinová, author of the MAP4Y methodology

  1. 1 · Map and Understand.

MAP4Y, psychometrics, 360° feedback, AC/DC, in-depth interviews – and a joint interpretation of what the data actually reveals.

  2. 2 · Select the Strategy.

Which of the eight strategies is relevant, for whom, and in what sequence. Along with an upfront agreement on what progress will look like and how it will be measured.

  3. 3 · Develop.

Training, coaching, mentoring, or structural intervention into organizational conditions.

  4. 4 · Activate in Daily Practice.

Micro-experiments, action learning, manager enablement and support.

  5. 5 · Evaluate and Re-map.

According to a pre-agreed evaluation protocol – and determine the next meaningful step.

Step 2 includes what is most frequently omitted in traditional development: an explicit agreement on what will signify that real change has occurred at the end of the journey.

Sustaining Change

A developmental project has an end date. Sustaining attention, reflection, and practical application can continue forward. This is one of the defining signatures of EMMA International.

  • micro-experiments applicable in day-to-day work
  • recurring challenges at an agreed rhythm
  • short parables and metaphors
  • reflective questions and inquiry prompts
  • card or theme of the month/quarter
  • manager check-in nudges and coaching questions
  • joint retrospectives and team reflection
  • repeated mapping where methodologically justified

This is not another training course. It is the continuous maintenance of focus, reflection, and experimentation over time.

Evaluation

We distinguish two distinct elements that must never be confused.

Shift in mapped potential. In repeated mapping, it is always transparent where evidence originates: self-assessment, observed behavior, manager evaluation, 360° feedback, project outcomes, or other agreed indicators.

Impact on your business metrics. In projects where appropriate, we track a metric you already measure and agree upon upfront – such as retention of key talent, internal promotion rates into critical roles, time-to-productivity, or selected team performance indicators.

What we promise: the evaluation methodology is agreed upon before the start, not retrofitted afterward.

What we do not claim: causal links between an intervention and commercial business results where project design cannot rigorously defend them.

What Is Proprietary and What We Integrate

Proprietary: the MAP4Y methodology, matrix, four quadrants, eight states, eight strategies, MAP4Y Cards, proprietary micro-experiments, developmental games and simulations, bespoke developmental programs developed by our company.

Integrated: Gallup CliftonStrengths, Facet5, Lumina Learning, Lumina Emotions, 360° feedback, Assessment and Development Centre methodologies. These instruments remain the intellectual property of their respective publishers. We do not represent them as our own – we utilize them under appropriate professional accreditations and licenses.

Scope and Investment

Investment and scope depend on five variables: the number of participants, the mapping level, the scope of diagnostics, the length and format of the developmental phase, and whether the sustainment layer continues. We propose a customized scope following the initial briefing.
